John Smolenskilink
teaches history at the University
of California, Davis. He was
educated at Yale University,
where he received a B.A. and
an M.A. in American history,
and at the University of Pennsylvania,
where he received an M.S. in
cultural anthropology and a
Ph.D. in early American history.
Since 2001 he has been an Assistant
Professor in the Department
of History at the University
of California at Davis. Professor
Smolenski is coeditor of New
World Orders: Violence, Sanction,
and Authority in the Colonial
Americas and author
of a book about the creolization
of civic culture in colonial
Pennsylvania. Here is a link
